Julian Jaravata Julian currently serves as the coordinator for The 3Waves Program. Prior to working as a coordinator, he also worked at AACI as an HIV test counselor and youth development specialist. He has a special interest in utilizing information services as a way to empower community members to make healthy decisions for their lives and communities. In addition to The 3Waves Program, he is active as an organizer with the Filipino community and supports disaster relief and response efforts as a member of the Disaster Support Network for the Philippines.

Malaya Arevalo Malaya Arevalo has worked in community health for over 16 years focusing on HIV/AIDS prevention, reproductive health care, substance use prevention, and youth development. He’s worked at AACI since 2007, and is currently the Senior Manager for Wellness Services supervising six of AACI’s health and wellness programs.

Anne Marie Urquia Anne Marie Urquia coordinates substance use prevention presentations to middle and high schools across Santa Clara County, along with contributing to the 3Waves magazine and doing community outreach. Having over six years of experience working in the non-profit sector in San Jose, her passion lies in helping others through education and empowerment. She holds a B.S. in Health Science from San Jose State University.

Marissa Martinez Marissa was born and raised in East San Jose and is proud to now be serving her community as a 3Waves staff member. She has always been involved in bringing people together—from high school clubs to college organizations—and she enjoys hearing the voices of the community. In the past, she has served as a summer camp counselor, a multicultural center director, and a web specialist. She hopes that her work with the 3Waves magazine and school-based presentations will make it easier for youth and families to find the information and support they may need. In her free time, Marissa writes plays and poetry and likes to eat ice cream.
