Did you know that 2/3 of all hospital visits leads to a prescription being written for the patient? In 2014, this accounted for 4.3 billion prescriptions being filled in the United States alone. Since then, these numbers have only gone up. Now, more than ever, it is important to understand and know how to manage your medicine!

Just like any other substances you put in your body, it is crucial to understand what medications are doing. Below is a list of things you should do to avoid problems with your medications!

1)      Learn more about your health conditions and medications; what are common side effects
2)      Make a medications list! Write the medication, what condition it is for, who prescribed it to you, and how often and for how long you should take it!
3)      Read the drug facts label! This is so you can be more knowledgeable of the things you are putting inside your body.
4)      Have a primary pharmacy! This will allow for your pharmacist to know who you are and what is best with your conditions!

In the last year, 700,000 emergency room visits were because of medication-related problems. Don’t let that be you!
